The Missoula Area Chamber of Commerce
recognized another year of Missoula
businesses and leaders with it's annual
banquet early October.
Little
did retired Chief Warrant Officer
Four Michael J. Durant know when he
entered the United States Army in
1979 that one day he would be the
target of a Somali-fired grenade
launcher, a prisoner of war, and the
subject of an acclaimed book and
major motion picture.
The story of
Black Hawk Down is a tense one,
and Durant, talked vividly about his
experience as a soldier and as a
hostage, and what it has taught him
about being an American and a
leader. During the
presentation, Durant illustrated the power
of teamwork, leadership, and change
through his awe-inspiring stories
and captivating visuals.
Congratulations to this
year's George
Award Recipient, Dirk
Visser of Allegiance Benefit
Plan Management. The
George Award is the
Chamber's highest honor
given to an individual who
has made a
significant contribution to
the community. Winners of
this award are individuals
who have consistently looked
beyond the many reasons not
to be involved, and instead,
have chosen to be motivated
to make our community a
better place.
We
would also like to
congratulate this year's
winner of the Circle
of Excellence Award Winner,
D.A. Davison & Co. The
criteria for the award
places emphasis on a
company's length of time in
business, commitment to the
community, and
reinvesting into Missoula
through donations, facility
or creating a better work
place.
The
Missoula Chamber's
Annual Banquet also
signifies the
"passing of the
gavel" from our
Chairman of the
Board, Gary Clark
from Missoula
Federal Credit
Union, to our
incoming Chairman of
the Board, John
Brauer from
Windermere Real
Estate, who
will serve the term
of July 1, 2011-June
30, 2012. The
Chamber would like
to thank both Gary
Clark & John Brauer
for their dedication
to this
organization. |
