Leadership
Missoula
29 is well into their year
and its shaping out to be a
great one!
Natural Resources was
the theme for the class’
second session day.
The day was held at
the Montana Natural History
Center where the class
learned about how to manage
our forests with information
about fish in our streams
and the Milltown Dam
project.
Presentations were
given about the economic
impact of local markets and
purchasing local food and
even had a bee keeper known
as the ‘Bee Whisperer’ talk
about the importance of bees
as a natural resource.
LM 29 also had a
chance to take a short tour
of the Roseburg Forest
Products Industry plant here
in town. The class finished
up the day with a social at
Bayern Brewery.
In November, Leadership
Missoula
29
was educated about Arts &
Culture and its impact in
our community.
The class heard from
a variety of artists
throughout the day including
a poetry slam session from
Big
Sky High
School
students, a performance by
one of the Drum Brothers,
Michael Marsolek and a
presentation from the famous
Monte Dolack. LM 29 also
took a tour of the Missoula
Children’s Theater and saw
‘the behinds scenes’of this
great organization.
In addition, they had
the chance to ‘step out of
the box’ and learn some
country line dancing and
improvisational theatre. The
day concluded with a fun
performance by Bits &
Pieces.
As usual – we
couldn’t make this program
the success it is without
community sponsors and we
appreciate all the generous
businesses in Missoula that believe in
this cause!

Missoula is a
dynamic community. This energy and
constant reshaping presents
many challenges and opportunities
for the citizens of Missoula.
Keeping our community vibrant and
healthy requires insightful leaders
who have the ability to communicate
and work effectively with a wide
variety of groups.
LEADERSHIP
MISSOULA
is designed to facilitate the
development and growth of leaders
and provide an excellent opportunity
to interact with different community
members as the Leadership Missoula
class explores community issues.
Leadership Missoula is a two year
commitment. The first year as a
class member, the second year as a
member of the planning committees
that organize the sessions for the
new class the following year. LM
class members begin their experience
with a two-day retreat followed by 8
all-day sessions: approximately one
each month October through April. A
two-day treat in May will culminate
the first year learning experience.
